The Simple Truth

Please, tell me what you were thinking and

What was running through your mind,

Did you think that I was impotent

And that the truth I wouldn’t find

I gave my heart, I gave my all

For you, I gave everything

And yet you turned against me

It was against me you turned your sting

You claimed I didn’t love you,

How could you have been so wrong

My love for you was total

It was a love that felt so strong

You just could not have seen it

And what you stood to throw away

So I feel I have to ask you

Are you still proud of that day?

You put a man before me,

And you fooled yourself it was love

But now you’re two years wiser

You know I was the hand that fit your glove

But that clock will just keep ticking,

And no matter how you pray

You’ll never get another chance

There’s nothing left for you to say

No words will ever change what was

Only you can change your ‘to be’

But one thing that you have to accept,

Your futures not with me

It’s not I’ve grown to hate you

Although you gave me every reason to

But even though my wounds have healed

I know those scars were caused by you

I needed you two years ago

You let me watch my father die

And instead of supporting me,

You chased an artificial high

But with thanks to God I made it,

I am stronger than before,

And now our game is over,

There are no more points to score

I wish you all the very best

And I pray God grants you what you need

But let this thought impregnate you

Like the soil accepts the seed

Life is never simple,

And if you are going to make it through

It’s important and I hope that

You’ll see my point of view

You are not an evil person,

But there is no faith in your eye

And this advice, it could just save you

As you seek yet another guy

Forget his wallet and his pay cheque

The six pack is just there to hide

The one thing that really matters

And for that just  look inside

His looks are unimportant

Make this your only goal

To see a man’s true beauty

You need to reach inside his soul
